You talk to HomiAgent the way you’d talk to a person. It knows your rooms, your devices, and what state each one is in, so you don’t need to remember exact names.

What you can ask

Commands
Turn off the kitchen lights. Make the living room cozy for movie night. Turn everything off and switch off the TV.
Questions about the current state
Which lights are on downstairs? What’s the temperature in the bedroom?
Questions about the past
What time was the garage light turned on yesterday? How did the bedroom temperature change overnight?
You can type, or send a voice message (see Voice messages).

How it understands you

  • Natural language. Say it the way you would to someone in the house. HomiAgent works in any language the AI supports, and answers in the language you write in.
  • Rooms. If you name a room (“the living room light”), it uses that room. If you don’t, it uses the room you told it you’re in. Say “I’m in the office” once, and “turn on the light” refers to the office from then on. See Context matters for how rooms and names help.
  • Conversation context. It remembers what it just did. After turning off three lights, “turn them back on” means the same three.
  • Several things at once. You can ask for more than one thing in a single message.
The better your devices are named and assigned to rooms, the better HomiAgent understands you. See Context matters.

When it asks before acting

If a request could mean more than one thing, HomiAgent asks before touching anything. Answer “yes”, or say which device you meant. A pending question is dropped after a few minutes, or as soon as you change the subject. It also tends to confirm before changing many devices at once.

Browse devices with buttons

If you ask to see your devices or rooms (“show me the living room lights”), HomiAgent opens a menu with buttons. You can browse by room, open a device, and control it with a tap. The menu stops working after a few minutes without use, because the states on screen may no longer be current.

More than one home

With more than one home connected, HomiAgent acts on the active home. Ask it to switch (“switch to the beach house”) or use the buttons it shows you. HomiAgent keeps a pinned message in your chat showing the active home and room (🏠 home · 📍 room). If you accidentally delete or unpin it, send /pinstatus and it’s pinned again.
