# Buying credits

> Top up your balance from Telegram with /buy, including amounts, fees, currency, and when credits arrive.

You buy credits directly in Telegram with the `/buy` command. Payment happens on a secure Stripe page, and your balance is updated as soon as Stripe confirms it.

## Buy credits

    In the HomiAgent chat on Telegram, send `/buy`. The bot shows your current balance, the minimum top-up, and the processing fee on small top-ups.

    Tap one of the buttons (US\$1, 2, 5, 10, 20, or 50), or send a whole number of dollars, for example `/buy 15`. Amounts below the minimum don't show up as buttons.

    The bot replies with a **Pay** button that opens the Stripe payment page. When you're done, you're sent back to Telegram.

Every US\$1 becomes 1 credit. The amount is always a whole number of dollars, with no cents and no fixed packs.

## Minimum amount and processing fee

* **Minimum:** US\$1.
* **Processing fee:** purchases **under US$5** pay a flat **US$0.60** fee on top. From US\$5 up, there's no fee.

The bot shows the total before you pay, for example the credits plus the processing fee on a small purchase. The fee doesn't turn into credits.

## Choose your currency

You can pay in your local currency, such as USD, BRL, or EUR. The first time you buy, the bot asks which currency to pay in. You can change it at any time with `/currency`, using the currency code, its name, or the country. For example: `/currency BRL`, `/currency real`, or `/currency Brazil`.

* Your credits are still worth US\$1 each. Only the amount charged to your card is converted.
* The conversion uses Stripe's exchange rate at the time of purchase. The final amount is shown on the payment page.
* If a currency can't be quoted, `/currency` tells you. If the rate isn't available when you buy, the purchase is made in US dollars and the bot says so.

## When your credits arrive

Credits are added as soon as Stripe confirms the payment, usually within seconds. The payment page can finish before that, so if your balance hasn't changed yet, wait a moment. When they arrive, you get:

* a message in Telegram saying how many credits were added and what your balance is now (if you bought with `/buy`). The message with the **Pay** button also changes to show that the payment was confirmed;
* a confirmation email.

Credits are valid for 12 months from the purchase. See [How credits work](/how-credits-work).

## If the payment link expires

A payment link expires after a while, and its button disappears from the chat. Just send `/buy` again. A payment can't be made twice from the same message.

## Out of credits

With a zero balance the bot stops answering other messages, but `/buy` keeps working. The "out of credits" message already includes a **Buy credits** button.
